Secrets of Strixhaven introduces a suite of mechanics: two-part prepare cards that create a copy of their spell in exile when a creature is prepared, with rules for casting or losing that copy if the creature unprepares or leaves the battlefield; the set also adds college-themed ability words—Repartee (Silverquill), Opus (Prismari), Infusion (Witherbloom), Flashback (Lorehold), and Increment (Quandrix)—each altering how instants/sorceries interact with targets, mana spent, or life gain; Paradigm grants repeatable, cost-free copies of certain spells, Converge counts mana colors spent, and Books join the artifact lineup, with a future Oracle update and an April 24 release date.
