The Ups and Downs of Pixar's Elemental.

Pixar's latest film, Elemental, is a confusing mess with a disastrously bad central metaphor about immigrants. The film's world-building is under-conceived and unpersuasive, and its story is a confusing jungle of dangling causes and unearned leaps. The romantic comedy subplot is the best part of the script, but the characters are hard to care about. The film's visuals and score are admirable, but they can't save the dismal script.
