Revisiting Indiana Jones: A Mix of Action, Nostalgia, and Controversy.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, directed by James Mangold and starring Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Mads Mikkelsen, is the best film in the series for 15 years, playing like just another episode in a creaky unpretentious romp. The plot is hokum of the cheesiest hue, but the screenwriters know that hokum is the mulch in which this franchise germinates. The film struggles to stand beneath the weight of its history, but Mangold keeps his foot on the pedal with gorgeous recreations of the 1960s vistas and agreeable cameos.
