Tony Gilroy steps down from producing 'Andor' as Star Wars show sparks controversy.

Tony Gilroy, creator and executive producer of the Disney+ Star Wars show Andor, has announced that he is no longer performing any non-writing duties for the show after receiving criticism from a fellow Writers Guild member for doing so during the WGA's strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Gilroy says he has not been present on the show's set since the strike began on May 2 and has ceased all non-writing producing functions. Studios including Disney had previously sent letters to showrunners demanding that they continue their contractually obligated non-writing services amid the strike, which the WGA called "union-busting tactics."
