"Star Trek: Picard" Showrunner Talks Spinoff, Finale Spoilers, and Cinematic Sendoff

The executive producer of "Star Trek: Picard," Terry Matalas, wanted to give the cast of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" a proper send-off in the series finale. He brought back the Enterprise-D and resurrected Data, and in the final scene, the cast plays a game of poker, a callback to the final scene of "The Next Generation" series finale. Matalas also hints at the possibility of a spinoff series, but says they want to make sure they do it right.
