Actors and screenwriters in Hollywood are demanding greater residual payments as part of their contract renegotiations with studios. Several actors, including Mandy Moore, Kamil McFadden, William Stanford Davis, and Jana Schmieding, have shared their residual checks, some of which were as low as a few cents or even negative amounts. The actors are on strike, along with the Writers Guild of America, demanding better wages, fair use of artificial intelligence, and improved contributions to healthcare and retirement. The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) has offered a $1 billion increase in wages, residuals, and pension and health care contributions over three years, but negotiations are ongoing.
