PETA Condemns Horse Death on 'The Rings of Power' Set.

A horse died of cardiac failure on the set of Prime Video's "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," prompting condemnation from animal rights group PETA. The incident occurred while the horse was being exercised prior to rehearsals, and both a veterinarian and a representative of the American Humane Association were present. PETA has called for productions to no longer employ real horses and to use CGI or other humane methods instead. The first season of "The Rings of Power" had an estimated production budget of $450 million, and Prime Video has committed to five seasons of production.
