Disney Delays 'Avatar' Sequels and Shifts Marvel Slate, Sets Date for New 'Star Wars' Film

Disney announced the release of a new "Star Wars" film in 2026, while delaying the next three installments of James Cameron's "Avatar" series. The release dates for "Thunderbolts" and "Blade," two Marvel films, were also pushed back due to the ongoing Hollywood writers' strike. "Avatar 3" is now set for release in December 2025, with "Avatar 4" and "Avatar 5" slated for December 2029 and December 2031, respectively. A "Deadpool" sequel will be released in May 2024, sooner than expected.
