Life Sentence for Murder of Drew Carey's Ex-Fiancée

Gareth Pursehouse, the ex-boyfriend of therapist Amie Harwick, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for her murder. Harwick, who had previously dated Pursehouse and filed protective orders against him, fell to her death from her balcony in February 2020. Pursehouse was found guilty of first-degree residential burglary and stalking. He had reportedly stalked Harwick for years and was described as "obsessed" and "entitled" by prosecutors. Comedian Drew Carey, who was engaged to Harwick, publicly mourned her death and expressed his wish that Pursehouse had never met her.
