Alec Baldwin to Face New Charges in Rust Shooting Case

New Mexico prosecutors plan to recharge actor Alec Baldwin with involuntary manslaughter for the shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie Rust in October 2021. The prosecutors stated that "additional facts" have emerged, and they intend to present the case to a grand jury within the next two months. Baldwin, who maintains the shooting was an accident for which he bears no responsibility, could face up to 18 months in prison if convicted. The film's armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, has also been charged with involuntary manslaughter, while the trial date for her case is set for February 2024.
