San Francisco-based podcast app Stitcher will shut down on August 29 as its owner, SiriusXM, plans to integrate all podcasts into its flagship subscription business. The move aims to drive growth, and there will be no layoffs or staffing changes. Stitcher Premium will also be discontinued, and subscribers will receive a complimentary six-month trial offer for SiriusXM Streaming Platinum. Hosts and creators whose podcasts are available exclusively on Stitcher Premium will determine availability and accessibility of their shows.
