Netflix bets on AI-guided filmmaking with InterPositive purchase

Netflix has acquired InterPositive, Ben Affleck’s AI-focused filmmaking startup, with the 16-person team joining Netflix and Affleck becoming a senior adviser. InterPositive builds AI models from a production’s dailies that filmmakers can use in postproduction to assist color, lighting and visual effects while preserving creative judgment; Netflix says the tools will be offered to its partners rather than sold commercially, emphasizing empowerment of artists rather than replacement of human creators.
