L.A. Teen Finalist in Duct Tape Fashion Contest

Karla Torres, a first-generation teenager from Los Angeles, has been named a finalist in the "Stuck at Prom" scholarship contest, where participants create prom attire using duct tape. Torres designed and crafted an 18th-century-inspired dress, complete with intricate lace and lifelike florals, using 14 rolls of tape and over 120 hours of work. As the first in her family to attend college, Torres hopes to win the $10,000 scholarship prize to alleviate the financial burden on her parents. Voting is open until July 12, with winners to be announced by July 19.
