Parler Acquired and Shut Down by New Owner, Leaving Conservatives Without a Platform.

Conservative social media platform Parler has been acquired by digital media company Starboard for an undisclosed amount and immediately shut down. Starboard plans to integrate Parler's audience across all of its existing platforms and assess how it can begin servicing unsupported online communities. Parler gained notoriety following the events of January 6th, 2021, but its popularity waned after Apple and Google removed its mobile app from their stores. Some users faithful to Parler were upset by Starboard's decision to abruptly close the platform.
