LinkedIn Chooses Physical Data Centers Over Microsoft Azure

LinkedIn has decided to abandon its plan to move its data center technology from physical facilities to Microsoft's Azure cloud, in a project known as "Blueshift." This marks a significant reversal for LinkedIn, which had previously announced its intention to migrate to Azure in 2019. The decision represents a setback for Microsoft, as it competes with Amazon Web Services in the cloud infrastructure market. LinkedIn will continue to use some Azure services but will focus on scaling and innovating its on-premises infrastructure. The issues with the migration arose from LinkedIn's attempt to use its own software tools instead of readily available Azure tools. Microsoft has previously moved acquired assets to Azure, but LinkedIn's decision highlights the challenges of cloud migration.
