Instagram has agreed to pay $68.5 million in a class-action biometric privacy settlement in Illinois. The lawsuit claims that the app's facial recognition technology violated Illinois' strict biometric privacy law. Any person who used Instagram in Illinois between August 2015 and August 2023 may be eligible for a portion of the settlement. The size of payouts will depend on the number of valid claims filed.
