EU widens probe into X's Grok integration and recommender risks under the DSA

The European Commission has opened a formal DSA investigation into X focused on the Grok integration and has extended the ongoing probe into its recommender-system risk management, evaluating whether X properly assessed and mitigated risks such as illegal content (including manipulated images that could amount to child sexual abuse material) in the EU. The inquiry could require an ad hoc risk assessment before Grok deployments and may lead to enforcement actions, with Ireland’s Digital Services Coordinator involved. This follows a prior December 2023 probe and a separate €120 million non-compliance decision against X in 2025.
