USPS Annual Dog Bite Rankings: Which States Are Most Dangerous?

The United States Postal Service (USPS) is running a public service campaign to promote National Dog Bite Awareness Week, reminding residents to keep their dogs leashed or safely locked inside when the postman comes knocking. In 2022, 5,300 USPS employees were attacked by dogs while making their rounds. Houston, Texas topped the list for mail carriers bitten by dogs in 2022, followed by Los Angeles. California topped the statewide list of most dog bites on mail carriers for the second straight year. USPS urges pet owners to take necessary precautions to reduce the chance of their pets biting mail carriers, as dog bites are entirely preventable.
