"Child's Tragic Death Prompts Recall of 60,000 Gun Safes"

Fortress Safe has voluntarily recalled over 60,000 gun safes sold at major retailers across the United States after a 12-year-old child reportedly died from accessing a firearm inside one of the safes. The recall was prompted by a programming flaw in the safes' biometric fingerprint reader technology, which could allow unauthorized users, including children, to access the safes. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has received 39 reports of the safes being opened by individuals with unregistered fingerprints. Consumers are advised to stop using the biometric feature immediately and contact the manufacturer for a free replacement safe.
