Monroeville Convention Center Secures Future with New Agreement

The Monroeville Convention Center will remain open after local leaders announced a successful effort to prevent its closure and conversion into a Hobby Lobby. Following public outcry and negotiations, the convention center will continue to operate as a long-term community asset under new ownership or a government-backed lease. Elected leaders expressed gratitude to Hobby Lobby and Oxford Development Company for their cooperation, and plans are underway to reach out to vendors and reschedule events previously slated for June 1 and beyond. Other venues have also offered their space to accommodate affected events.
