Whitmer's Bold Move: Forcing UAW and Detroit Three to Reach a Deal

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer suggests that negotiators from the United Auto Workers (UAW) and Detroit Three automakers should be locked in a room until a deal is reached, as the UAW's simultaneous strike against General Motors (GM) surpasses the length of its national walkout in 2019. The strike has cost GM $800 million so far, and the economic losses for the auto industry are estimated to be over $9.3 billion. Negotiations continue between the UAW and automakers, while Canadian autoworkers union Unifor is also in the midst of negotiations with the Detroit Three.
