Columbus Day 2023: What's Open and Closed, USPS, Banks, Stock Market, Stores, and More

Columbus Day, a federal holiday, is observed on the second Monday of October. While some states and cities celebrate it as Indigenous Peoples' Day, many local governments have moved the day off elsewhere due to its contentious nature. Post offices and federal/state offices are closed, but City of Columbus offices will be open. Franklin County offices will also be open since the paid holiday was moved to Juneteenth. Columbus City Schools and Ohio State University are open, while Columbus State Community College and Columbus Metropolitan Library branches are open as well. The Central Ohio Transit Authority will operate on a Saturday schedule.
