Walmart Stores in Central NY Targeted by Credit Card Skimmers

Suspected scammers have installed credit card skimming devices in at least five Walmart stores in New York, with investigations underway in Granby, East Syracuse, Camillus, Auburn, and Oswego. The skimmers were discovered after being installed on July 2 and found on July 5. Surveillance images show three individuals tampering with the credit card terminals. While no victims have been reported yet, customers who used their credit cards at the affected Walmart stores during that time should be vigilant for fraudulent charges. Consumers are advised to be cautious of tampered payment terminals and to use more secure payment methods such as chip or contactless payments.
