"Santee Walmart Standoff Ends with Suspect's Surrender"

A 22-year-old man armed with a workout dumbbell and threatening to use it as a weapon prompted a seven-hour standoff at a Walmart in Santee, California. The man, believed to be experiencing a mental health crisis, was in possession of knives and a hatchet. After negotiations and de-escalation techniques, he surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody for a mental health evaluation. No injuries were reported, and the store has since reopened.
