Disgruntled Customer Shoots Walmart Employee in Pineville

A scuffle over stolen chicken at a Walmart in Pineville, North Carolina, led to a Walmart employee being shot in the leg. The suspect, Jonathan Alan Smith, was confronted by the employee for not scanning the chicken at the self-checkout. After a fight broke out, Smith left the store but returned with a firearm, leading to another altercation during which the gun went off, injuring an employee. Smith has been charged with assault and misdemeanor larceny, and the injured employee was treated for minor injuries.
