Credit Card Skimmers Target Multiple Walmart Stores in Central NY

Credit card skimming devices, resembling real card readers, have been found at multiple Walmart stores in Central New York, including locations in Auburn, East Syracuse, Camillus, Fulton/Granby, Oswego, and Cortlandville. The skimmers were installed on July 2 and discovered on July 5, with an additional device found on July 8. Authorities believe the same suspects are responsible for all incidents. Skimming involves capturing card data to create fake cards and steal from victims' accounts, costing financial institutions and consumers over $1 billion annually. State police recommend using credit cards instead of debit cards at vulnerable locations and monitoring account activity for suspicious charges.
