A United Airlines flight bound for Rome had to turn back to Newark, New Jersey, and descend rapidly after a possible indication of cabin pressure loss. The plane landed safely, and although there was no actual loss of pressure, the pilots couldn't confirm it. The Boeing 777 descended from 37,000 feet to less than 9,000 feet in eight minutes. The flight was shortened, and passengers were accommodated on another plane, reaching Rome six hours later than scheduled.
